Most Americans don’t have emergency supplies in their homes beyond maybe a flashlight (with dead batteries) and does anyone even remember transistor radios? But we never know when society will go south; remember the Y2K panic and people burying busses? The Colorado Department of Public Health and Wal-Mart Stores Inc. are pairing up to increase […]

the return of a family-friendly company. That’s how the Arkanasas Repulican Assemblies — the self-proclaimed Republican Wing of the Republican Party — sees Wal-Mart. How can you trust an organization that only gets one out of three right? I’ll give them low prices, even though numerous posts have shown that the price edge, when it […]

Yesterday as I was reading Pallavi Gogoi’s story on Wal-Mart and local taxes, I began to wonder why it was that my home state of Ohio wasn’t on the list of states where Wal-Mart has ramped up its political contributions in shrink its corporate tax bill. Gogoi lists nine states — Arizona, California, Florida, Illinois, […]

I loved the above headline from The New York Observer and I just had to steal borrow it. The battle between Wal-Mart and New York is heating up and the Bentonvile Behemoth is getting creative about how it insinuates itself into local politics. Politicians are running away from Wal-Mart as fast as they can. A […]

What next? Blood samples. Under the guise of foiling those who might alter the printed data on their driver’s license, Wal-Mart in Arizona has begun scanning the driver’s licenses of all people purchasing alcohol, regardless of their apparent age. From Azcentral: Question: What’s going on at Wal-Mart stores here in the Valley? Why do their […]

Brian, the better-paid critic at Edelman’s “Paid Critics” offers his usual “bad cop” portrayal of this story out of Rhode Island’s Pawtucket Times. What he doesn’t tell you is why they were protesting: The union officials were particularly irked that Wal-Mart is lobbying to get rid of a state law that requires that workers be […]

Last night Wal Mart gave Terry Nelson the boot (or he quit) depending upon which story you latch onto. But it doesn’t matter, he’s out the door. Wal Mart must feel a little like Diogenes now, searching for an honest Republican political consultant to replace Nelson. Jeff Hess: Have Coffee Will Write.

Jeff Hess sure called it right concerning Terry Nelson and the despicable Republican Tenn. campaign ad. The Huffington Post claims Wal-Mart is going to fire Terry Nelson for his role in producing this ad. Maybe Wal-Mart should be more careful about the PR people it hires. Some advice. Do not hire slimeballs.

Business Week online has a comprehensive article today on Wal-Mart donations to politicians and political parties. California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has legions of close friends, collected over decades as a Hollywood box office draw and rising political star. Yet few may consider him as dear as Wal-Mart Stores (WMT ), which gave the Republican governor […]

Republican Bob Corker wants to be the next senator from Tennessee. But back in 2003 his development company sold land for a proposed Wal Mart that local citizen and environmental groups claim ruined an adjacent nature preserve. Corker had hoped to put off testifying in the case until after the November election. The judge in […]
