Apparently Walmart can predict the results of upcoming elections as well as the demand for toothpaste in Podunk.

The giant retailer said yesterday that Leslie Dach, a prominent Democratic operative who advised President Bill Clinton during the impeachment process, would join the company in August.

Combine this announcement with the recent hiring of Andy Young (another prominent Democrat) and it seems that Walmart is taking steps to have friends on the inside when the change in majority party occurs.

Are these people joining Walmart because they think they can effect change from the inside, or for the money, or what? Did they ever hear of the term “co-opted”, or is that too 60′s-ish?
