As a rule, I don't right about crimes committed in, at or near Walmart stores because I don't think Walmart is responsible for what criminals do on company property. Mayor Dennis Buckley, however, disagrees with me and has taken extraordinary, but perfectly legal, action to mitigate the costs to his town arising from the Beech Grove Walmart. Justin Mack, writing in As a public nuisance, Beech Grove Wal-Mart can be fined by police for The Indy Star, tells us:
When a man shot himself following an incident at Wal-Mart in Beech Grove, it was the last straw for that town’s mayor. He’s declared the business a public nuisance. On Thursday morning, 42-year-old Gillace Monroe Samples tried to steal from the store, police said. After being caught by security, Samples waved his gun at employees before running to a nearby restaurant and shooting himself in the head as police closed in. He remained in critical condition at Eskenazi Hospital as of Friday afternoon. The shooting is the latest in a string of high-profile incidents that have been connected to the troubled Wal-Mart store over the last two months, joining a brawl between two women in the store’s shampoo aisle and a separate act of shoplifting that ended with a crash that killed a 63-year-old woman. As a public nuisance, Wal-Mart can be assessed fines when officers are needed there. To Beech Grove Mayor Dennis Buckley, it’s one of the only remaining options. “We’re better than that, our community is better than that and I don’t want to get a phone call every day saying that somebody pulled a gun at Wal-Mart and has done something out of line,” Buckley said.
This is the kind of action typically taken against a bar with too many brawls. Could Buckley be starting a national movement? I hope so. Jeff Hess: Have Coffee Will Write.Walmart, Wal-Mart

I totally agree with this mayor. I hate to say it but Walmart attracts SCUM! I have been working for this company just over two months and I am ashamed to call myself a Walmart employee. But I have no choice, I need some kind of job till I can find something better. When I put on that incredibly hot vest, I just want to scratch out the “Proud Walmart Associate” that’s on it. I work long days as a cashier basically for nothing. When I saw my first paycheck, I wanted to cry. It was the lowest paycheck I have ever had. This company treats it’s employees like s**t. Which in turn, makes the employees not care, which makes them oblivious to the scum bags who come into the store. I cant even use the bathroom at my store because of the horrific smell that comes from it. In the two months I have been there I have seen the cops there 3 times, and found out one of the cart pushers found a bag of drugs right by the front door. As a cashier I see almost everyone who comes through the store and all I can think is American’s are horrible. Mom’s with their screaming ungrateful children not controlling them, having them run a muck. My favorite is when I see parents with either their infant or child at the store past 10pm, what the f**k is your kid up this late for?

Sorry for rambling, guess I really needed to vent about how much I can’t stand this company. The point is, Walmart is a public nuisance. It’s a greedy company who sells the lowest quality of goods at a low price. I will never buy anything from Walmart and as soon as I find a different job, I will never step foot in a Walmart store.
