So, we've written hundreds of posts about the Walton family, their peers and their hirelings, but we've never focused on the people the way the folks at The Walmart 1%, The People Behind The Walmart Empire. Who, sadly, were these bloggers? The Walmart 1% was a project of Making Change At Walmart, (who took notice of The Writing On The Wal early on) a United Food & Commercial Workers organized:
coalition of Walmart associates, union members, small business owners, religious leaders, community organizations, women’s advocacy groups, multi-ethnic coalitions, elected officials and ordinary citizens who believe that changing Walmart is vital for the future of our country. The website/blog first appeared in February of 2012 with Is this the beginning of the Walmartization of California politics? and stopped publishing updates in July of last year with 7 Key Facts to Keep in Mind about Walmart’s “U.S. Manufacturing Summit.”. I didn't find any mention of why the work stopped, but there's lots of good back reading to be found there. Jeff Hess: Have Coffee Will Write.
