SUPER CENTERS LEAVE SUPER HOLES…
Stories do come in batches. This morning I’m reading about yet another abandoned Wal-Mart finding an owner. The Wal-Rescue this time is in Wilmar, Minnesota. It’s too bad that Bigbox Reuse has gone dark. From The West Central Tribune:
A potential buyer has been identified for the former Wal-Mart store on First Street South, a Wal-Mart spokesman at the company’s Bentonville, Ark., headquarters said Tuesday.
Spokesman Dan Fogleman said a potential buyer has been found for the former store building that Wal-Mart is continuing to lease until the sale is completed. Wal-Mart moved from the former building to the new, larger Supercenter on 19th Avenue Southeast. The Supercenter opened on Oct. 10.
Fogleman would not identify the potential buyer but did say the company is a retail business. He anticipates the buyer would make the announcement.
“The ownership will be transferred from the current owner to a new owner, and we expect that to close some time after the first of the year,’’ he said.
