I imagine that we could do a blog just about the recalls of merchandise from Walmart, and the shoes recall has been in the back of my mind for a few days as I contemplated whether or not it was worth posting the story. Frank made my decision easier.

It offers lower income families the chance to clothe their kids in decent, new clothes for less money.
But less money can mean less safe or even life threatening clothing.

Women’s high heels that break and choking hazards from children’s clogs sold exclusively at Wal-Mart stores prompted a recall today of about 273,000 shoes by the Consumer Product Safety Commission.

Children can choke on decorative wheels that detach from pairs of Buster Brown and Co. Cars Fleece Clog shoes — red plastic shoes with a fleece lining made to resemble characters from the Disney and Pixar movie “Cars,” according to the commission recall statement.

About 200,000 pairs of George brand women’s shoes are also being recalled, the commission said.
The heels on the George pointed-toe slingbacks can easily detach, posing a falling hazard for those wearing them, the statement said.
The women’s shoes were sold between June and December of last year in black, gray and purple. They were made in China by Joyfair Footwear of Taipei, Taiwan, the statement said.
