LIKE A SCENE FROM HITCHCOCK’S THE BIRDS…
I know what it is like to have a creepy crowd of shoppers hovering over your shoulder on Christmas eve. I know how they smell blood in the water when they see you walking toward a stack of toys with the price gun in your hand.
I would not want to be a Walmart employee at 4:59 a.m. on 27 November.
From The San Francisco Examiner:
Wal-Mart Stores said Wednesday it will keep its stores open 24 hours and take new crowd-control measures Thanksgiving weekend after a temporary employee was trampled to death in a Black Friday rush last year.
The world’s largest retailer says day-after-Thanksgiving sales will begin at 5 a.m. Nov. 27, but most U.S. stores will be open 24 hours to prevent a mad dash. The announcement doesn’t affect most of Wal-Mart’s Supercenters, which are already open 24 hours. Spokesman David Tovar said the change affects about 800 stores that aren’t currently open round-the-clock.
Instead lining up outside Walmart, customers can gather in different areas of the store, waiting for the deals to begin, Tovar said.
I would dearly love to have Tovar standing between one of those groups of gathered customers and the deal. It will be like chum to sharks.
jeff we don’t get crowds any more. They know we have the same junk year after year. They come to our store as their last stop.
Weren’t you the one complaining in a different thread about how things were being organized this year?
Now, you say your store has no crowds?
I’m confused…
Shalom Walmartmole,
As the news of early layoffs of holiday temps attests.
B’shalom,
Jeff
that is my point. We don’t have crowd to controll anymore.

we are putting up rope to keep customers in a line just like at an amusement park.If there is only a small amount of the one item, tickets will be passed out to the first in line. The others will be told it is sold out. There will also be line monitors to prevent line jumping.Passes will also be issued for 15 minutes if you need a break.
Reply uncle Bob if this is the post you refer to,I don’t see it as a complaint.?

how do I start a new topic?
I would like to talk about security for black friday or as it is now called,The Yearly Event. My store needs 193 people to come in at 1A.M.and work 12-14 hours as part of a crowd controll team. Some associates wiil have split shifts. No extra money or considerations for this.”
That was the post I was referring to.
Shalom Walmartmole,
New topics are always best started at Walmart Wednesday.
B’shalom,
Jeff
ok Bob I can see that as a complaint but it is because it is not needed. The stores that stay open 24 hours dont have crowds,so keep them all open and forget the 193 security guards.
