FROM BRAZIL TO ASIA TO S. AMERICA TO GONE…
Vicente Trius had all the markings of a rising managemet star at Walmart, but after only five months at the head of Walmart’s South American division, Trius is departing. The newsrelease is unclear, but it looks like the departure is immediate.
If it were his choice, for whatever reasons, personal or otherwise, the word choice would be resigning.
From the Associated Press:
Trius spent 11 years running Wal-Mart’s Brazil operation before being tapped to lead the company’s Asia stores for a year before taking the Latin America post.
The move was announced to staff on Tuesday by company international division chief Doug McMillon. Trius assumed the Latin America job on July 6.
This kind of change, with no warning and no transition period, does not bode well for any company.
And, while there is no specific reason to think that this story might be connected with Trius’ departure, it did catch my eye.
